TACOMA, WA - Saturday was yet another successful outing for Northwest University track and field as the Eagles returned home with four personal bests and a first place mark by senior, Kacey Koehn.
"Our team had a good day at UPS," says Head Coach Mark Mandi. "They're continuing to find ways to make improvements from past opportunities or learn new ways to get better. Great attitude by this group and I love the way they support each other."
Koehn's 53.67m throw in the men's javelin earned him his first meet win of the season, and the second of his career.
Head Coach Mark Mandi says, "We had a several of people achieve personal bests including Felicia Franco in shot put, Jenisha Green in discus, Brennan Koontz in the 1.5k, and Trevor Blair in the 1.5k and 5k."
Koontz led the Eagles in the men's 1.5k with a 4:27.40, Blair closely behind at 4:30.36. Blair's second personal best of took place during the men's 5k with his 17:37.24 time. Gavin Darrah earned eighth of 16 runners in the men's 5k at 16:08.58.
Franco placed nine of 13 throwers in the women's shot put, recording a personal best of 9.82m. Green threw her best in the women's discus at 26.76m.

"Even those who didn't come away with a PR put out really good efforts to compete," says Mark Mandi, "Especially Rachel Elliott, Marissa Guthrie, Acacia Crees, and Johanna Schmidt whose previous competition was at the conference cross country championships in November. This group is on track to do some really cool things this season and I can't wait to see what God has planned for us."
The Eagles next meet will be held at Seattle Pacific University in two weeks for the Doris Heritage Track Festival, on April 5th.
