TILLAMOOK, Ore. - The Northwest University men's and women's cross-country team had a great showing with only eight racers competing in the Mook Invite over the weekend.
From the men's side, Andres Bustamante, Will Lanser, Christian Chi, Kai Ushikubo and Brennan Koontz all raced in the Men's 5K Collegiate and all finished with personal records. Bustamante came in first with a time of 15:22.0 while Lanser came up right behind him point-three seconds later. Chi finished fifth with a time of 15:59.7, Ushikubo came up next with a time of 16:03.7 and Koontz finished eighth, completing a 16:20.0 run.
On the women's side, Emri Butcher, Emma Hill and Ela Woods competed in the Women's 5K Collegiate and also all finished with personal records. Butcher finished second in the race with a time of 19:42.8, Hill came up behind Butcher, finishing with a time of 21:46.7 and Woods got to the finish line 10 seconds after.
"We had a small group racing today but they all ran lifetime PRs," said Assistant Head Coach Corban Phillips. "We are super excited to take this positive racing experience into Western Washington next Saturday where the whole team will be competing."
