Eagles Battle Inside but Fall at Corban

Box Score

SALEM, Ore. – Northwest University men's basketball faced a physical challenge inside Saturday night, as Corban controlled the paint in an 85–69 Cascade Collegiate Conference loss at Tim Hills Court.

The Eagles (3-10, 0-5 CCC) stayed competitive early, matching Corban's energy through much of the first half and keeping the game within reach. Northwest traded baskets with the Warriors before Corban closed the opening period on an 18–10 run to take an eight-point lead into halftime.

Corban (6-7, 2-3 CCC) increased the pressure coming out of the break with a full-court press that forced turnovers and sparked an early second-half run. Despite Northwest's efforts to respond, the Eagles were unable to trim the deficit to fewer than three possessions the rest of the way.

Northwest found valuable production from its bench, outscoring Corban's reserves 27–18, but struggled to overcome shooting 38% from the field and being outrebounded on the night. The Warriors' consistent scoring around the rim ultimately proved to be the difference.

Guard Trent Williams and forward Logan Stempniak led the Eagles with 16 points apiece, combining for 15 rebounds to pace Northwest on both ends of the floor. Their steady scoring helped keep NU within striking distance, particularly during stretches of the second half.

Though the result did not go their way, the Eagles showed resilience and flashes of depth against a conference opponent on the road. Northwest will look to build on those positives as it continues CCC play and works toward turning close stretches into complete performances.
