KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University Athletics continues to build momentum as the outdoor track and field season approaches the postseason, following a strong weekend of competition as they are looking ahead to another key meet.
Last week, the Eagles traveled to Bellingham, Washington, to compete in two meets hosted by Western Washington University. Northwest opened the weekend on Friday, April 24, at the Pee Wee Halsell Invitational before returning to the track on Saturday, April 25, for the Ralph Vernacchia Invite.
Across both meets, Northwest delivered a well-rounded performance, highlighted by multiple Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) qualifying marks and several high-place finishes. The Eagles saw success in distance events, relays, and field events, continuing to show depth and progression across the roster. The strong results reflect the team's continued development as athletes push for qualifying marks and improved performances heading into the final stretch of the season.
With momentum on their side, the Eagles now turn their focus to another high-level opportunity this weekend. Northwest will travel to Corvallis, Oregon, to compete in the OSU High Performance Meet hosted by Oregon State University on Saturday, May 2. The meet is expected to provide a competitive field and another valuable chance for athletes to improve marks, fine-tune race strategies, and prepare for postseason competition.
The OSU High Performance Meet serves as one of the final opportunities for Northwest athletes to secure qualifying marks and sharpen performances before the conference championships. With several athletes already hitting CCC standards and others closing in, the meet will play an important role in determining the Eagles' postseason lineup.
Looking ahead, Northwest is preparing for the CCC Track & Field Championships, set for May 8–9. The Eagles are expected to have strong representation across multiple events, with a number of athletes entering the championships in competitive positions. The team's recent performances have positioned Northwest to compete well within the conference as they aim to carry their momentum into the championship setting.
As the season progresses, Northwest continues to emphasize consistency, improvement, and competitive focus. With one final meet ahead of the CCC Championships, the Eagles remain focused on executing at a high level and maximizing every opportunity on the track and in the field.
