Box Score OLYMPIA, Wash. – The NU Eagles made good of their scoring opportunities and their defense held solid as they defeated Evergreen 3-1 this afternoon on the Olympia campus. NU goalkeeper
Joe Galbraith steadied the defense with 10 saves in goal today. With the victory, Northwest remains tied for second place, one game behind league-leading Corban.
The Eagles (7-4-0, 5-2-0 CCC) struck first in the 11th minute as Alex Taylor sent a long pass ahead to
Todd Siedenburg who chipped the ball over the head of TESC goalkeeper, Collin Harlow, to put NU up 1-0.
NU got their second goal in the 20th minute as
Josh Guerrero dribbled around two Evergreen defenders before taking a shot from five yards to score his 7th goal of the season. Evergreen pulled to within a goal in the 46th minute as Jacob Zimmerman chipped the ball over the head of the Eagles'
Joe Galbraith and NU would take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Evergreen came out in the second half pressing but the Eagles defense held tough and without a score which included 7 big saves by Galbraith.
In the 62nd minute, NU's
Edgar Esquivel passed in a ball to
Jonathan Ellis, who scored the game clincher for the Eagles from the top of the box.
"This was a good road win for us today," said
Gary McIntosh, NU head coach. "The guys worked hard for this one and were rewarded for their efforts.

Northwest host sNorthwest Christian at home on Tuesday and then travel for an important contest in Portland with Concordia on Saturday, October 19.
