NU Notches Third Straight Shutout

Joe Galbraith earned his third straight shutout today.
Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University earned a 4-0 shutout of Oregon Tech this afternoon in a game that saw a combined 47 shots taken by the two teams. It is NU's third consecutive shutout.
 
Northwest (10-4, 8-2 CCC) got started early as Josh Guerrero passed ahead to Edgar Esquivel on the left side and crossed to Mackenzie Samuelsen who drove the ball in from 12 yards out. Todd Siedenburg made it a 2-0 game in the 20th minute as he headed Brendon Wheeler's pass over the head of OIT keeper, Loren Jessen, for the score.
 
At the 56:01 mark, Ryan Gamache scored after Samuelsen shot was deflected off OIT's Jessen and he finished from 5 yards out on the right side. Taylor Turner scored as Kyle Zimmerman's shot came off Jessen again and Turner put it into the left corner, 6 yards out on the right side.
 
Northwest outshot Oregon Tech (5-8, 4-5 CCC) 36-11 and had a number near misses and shots that hit the crossbar. Jessen made nice saves on shots by Odason Pelogi (68:05), Jacob Weaver (71:25) and Jonathan Ellis' shot hit the crossbar (66:49). Joe Galbraith earns the shutout with 3 saves in goal for the Eagles as Loren Jessen grabbed 7 saves for the Owls. Do-Hee Kim had 5 shots and Josh Guerrero had 4 for NU while Ashton Betts led OIT with 4 shots. 23 players saw action for Northwest today.
 
Said Gary McIntosh, NU head coach, "It was a good team win today. We took control of game early and scored two nice goals to get us going. Mackenzie (Samuelsen) had a very good game up top for us holding onto the ball and linking up with the mids. Our defense continues to play well earning another shutout and that's makes it three in a row.  A lot of our guys played today and they all contributed in the win."
 
Northwest U. remains home to host the College of Idaho tomorrow while Oregon Tech travels to Olympia to take on Evergreen.
