Saints Sweep Eagles

Box Score LACEY, Wash. - St. Martin's swept Northwest University, 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-19), to hand the Eagles their fourth straight loss and shutout tonight in a non-conference contest.
 
St. Martin's (4-10) lead the entire way in the first set breaking out to an early 13-9 lead. A Rae Ann Haistings kill would make it 13-10, but a 6-1 SMU run would increase their lead to 19-11 as the Saints would outscore the Eagles 12-5 for the set win.
 
Set two would almost be a mirror image of set one as SMU would establish an early 13-6 lead. NU's Sarah Stoker's kill would make it 16-10, but a 9-4 finish for St. Martin's would give the Saints a 2-0 set lead.
 
In the final set, Northwest would take it only lead of the set at 3-2, but again the Saint would make a run of 8-3 to take the lead for good at 11-5. NU would pull to within 4 twice, but each time SMU would answer the challenge. With the score 21-17, the Saints would finish the set and match with a 4-2 run.
 
Rae Ann Haistings led Northwest U. (5-9, 1-3 CCC) with 10 kills. Ashton Arbuthnot would have a team high 25 assists and Leia Roy a team high 10 digs for the Eagles.
 
St. Martin's was led by Kristyn Ross' double-double as she finished with 13 kills and 13 digs to lead the way for the Saints. Cymbree Decosta had a match high 40 assists and Jessica Riddle added 11 digs for SMU.
 
Northwest returns to Kirkland to host two CCC matches this weekend when they host Northwest Christian on Friday evening and Corban University on Saturday night.
