Box Score LA GRANDE, Ore. – The NU Eagles took on the No. 10 ranked Eastern Oregon Mountaineers and battled  before falling 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-18) tonight in CCC play. The Eagles fall to 2-8 in conference and 9-12 overall.

The Eagles got off to a strong start in the first set taking a 13-9 lead after Rae Ann Haistings' two kills and an EOU attack error. But the NAIA's #10 team tied the score at 14-14 and took a 15-14 lead after an Eagle service error. NU showed some fight as they came back late in the set forcing 4 straight EOU errors along with a Christina Gleb service ace to tie the set at 22-all. The Mounties then scored the final three points of the set for the win.

In set two, EOU broke out to an early 13-4 lead aided by two kills by Emily Nay and another by Amanda Miller. A Piper Cantrell service ace made it 19-9 EOU as they finished the first set win with Casey Loper's kill.

In the final set and after an early 4-4 tie, EOU would take a 9-7 lead. Four straight points including an Amanda Miller kill would make it 13-7 as the Mountaineers would maintain the lead the rest of the way for the set and match victory.

NU senior Rae Ann Haistings led the Eagles with 8 kills. Morgan Pilon had 11 assists and Leia Roy added 15 digs for the Eagles who managed to hit just .050 for the match.

Eastern Oregon (19-2, 9-1 CCC) was led by Casey Loper's 15 kills and 12 digs. Rachelle Chamberlain had a match high 33 assists and Jessalyn Smith led the Mounties with 15 defensive digs.

Northwest U now moves on to Caldwell to take on the College of Idaho on Saturday night at 7 p.m. before returning to Kirkland.
