Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University came from behind late in the game to defeat Warner Pacific on a golden goal in the first overtime period and a 2-1 victory in the CCC Championships semifinal. Northwest U advances to the championship game next Saturday, Nov. 15, and will host the game.

It looked as though the first half would be a scoreless 45 minute period, but Warner Pacific score with just 16 seconds left in the period as Ashley Valencia scored unassisted in transition to put the Knights up 1-0 at the half. Velencia put a blast off the NU goalkeeper's hands and into the upper left corner of the net from 8 yards out on the right side.

The defense went to work for a good part of the second half and it looked as though Northwest U's season may be coming to an abrupt end, but 83 minutes into the game, Acacia Johnson one touched a cross from teammate Gabi de Andrade passed the Warner Pacific keeper from the middle, 11 yards out to tie the score at 1-1. Johnson just missed scoring in the 58^th minute but her point blank shot was saved by WPC's Allie Holterman and the ball bounced off the cross bar. Warner Pac's Crystal Ruvalcaba's shot in the 88^th minute was blocked by an NU defender as the game would head into overtime.

Four minutes into the overtime period, Tiffany Taylor would get her right foot on a blast that would make its way into the upper right corner off a set piece and assist by Acacia Johnson. Johnson placed a perfect cross from the right side into the middle where Taylor finished from 9 yards out.

Allie Holterman was solid in goal for Warner Pacific finishing with 9 saves, 7 coming in the second half. Patty Hughes earns the shutout in goal for Northwest U as she grabbed two saves and held the Knights scoreless in the second half and overtime period. NU outshot WPC 15-10 with Warner Pac holding a 7-4 edge on corner kicks.

Said NU head coach, Val Seid, "The ladies came out slow and struggled to get their feet underneath them in the first half. We played a well-organized and strong Warner Pacific team that came out to win today. In the second half, our team came out playing with emotion and desire, to not let down and they refused to have the season end today. I am so proud to be involved with these ladies who continue to fight for each other week in and week out. This is a tough league and these ladies deserve all the recognition they have been receiving."

NU will now move on the championship final for the third straight year and will host Concordia in the final next Saturday.
