Saints' Late Goals Defeat Northwest U

Box Score HELENA, Mont. - The NU Eagle men fell victim to two late Carroll goals including a penalty kick, as the Saints would come from behind for a 3-2 victory this afternoon.

The first half would see the two teams defenses hold one another in check as the half would end in a scoreless tie.

 
The scoring gates would open in the second half with Carroll taking a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute with Isaac Bostrom's unassisted goal.

NU (8-6, 6-3 CCC) would come back strong and freshman, Jake Morse, would knot the score at 1-1 with is unassisted goal at the 62:52 mark. Kieran Raney would give the Eagles the lead less than five minutes later with his goal in the 68th minute.

The Eagles defense would hold Carroll (8-5-1, 5-3-1 CCC) scoreless for the next 17 minutes, but at 85:10, Terry Cox would take a corner kick from Jose Porras to tie the score at 2-2. A little over a minute later, it would be Porras putting his penalty kick passed Daniel Christenson for the game winner.

Northwest U would not quit and would press hard in the final four minutes with Conor Smith saving Branson Corwin's shot in the 88th minute and Conor again would stop Jake Morse's shot off Ryan Gamache's corner. The Eagles would have one final corner as time would expire.

Held without a shot in the first half, NU would get 16 in the second half to Carroll's 6. Conor Smith, Carroll's goalkeeper would be tough in goal making 11 saves, all in the second half. Daniel Christenson takes the loss in goal for NU with two saves and snapping his string of five straight shutouts.

Gary McIntosh, NU head coach, had this to say following the game: "I'm very proud of my team today. Our guys laid their hearts on the line today. Nothing more special than this team!"
