KIRKLAND – Northwest begins its postseason Tuesday with a 2 p.m. game against Southern Oregon in Springfield, Oregon.
Â
The Eagles are back in the postseason after a brief hiatus last season. Except for that hiccup, Northwest had been in the conference tournament for every season since 2010.
Â
The Eagles were originally slated to take on Rocky Mountain in the first round, but Providence dropped out of the tournament. Northwest then moved from the No. 7 seed to No. 6 and takes on the third seed, Southern Oregon.
Â
An Eagles win would thrust them into the Cascade Collegiate Conference semifinals against an opponent that has yet to be determined.Â
Â
The tournament is reseeded after the first round, with the highest remaining seed playing the lowest remaining seed in one semifinal, while the other two teams meet in the second semifinal. Corban is the No. 1 seed, followed by Rocky Mountain, Southern Oregon, Oregon Tech, Eastern Oregon, Northwest, Evergreen State, and College of Idaho.
Â
Southern Oregon scored a 3-1 win against the Eagles on Northwest's Senior Day.
Jordan Travis scored in the first half to give NU a lead, but the Raiders tied it before halftime and scored twice in the second half. Brendan Allen, Pessoa de Oliveira, and Michael Miller had the goals for SOU.
Â
Travis leads the Eagles with 12 goals and 29 points this season. Within the Cascade Collegiate Conference, Travis is fourth in goals and seventh in points.Â
Â
Freshman
Elliot Misic is eighth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with 2.73 shots per game and third with 1.80 shots on goal per game.Â
Â
Kyle Han leads the team with seven assists and averages 0.44 assists per game. Dmitry Zorchenko and Travis both have five assists this season.
Â
Freshman
Alexander Thiehofe allows 1.10 goals per game, which is fourth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Thiehofe also averages 4.20 saves per game and is fourth in the league in that category.
Â
Southern Oregon stands at 12-5-1 overall and rides a five-game winning streak into the postseason. They also are on an eight-game unbeaten streak. Adrian Villegas has 10 goals and 10 assists for 30 points and leads the team in all three categories. Wyatt Zabinski allows 0.84 goals per game to lead the CCC. He is 12
th nationally.
