Eagles to Open CCC Action in Oregon

KIRKLAND – Northwest opens the Cascade Collegiate Conference season with a trip to Oregon for two road games at Oregon Tech on Friday (noon) and at Southern Oregon on Saturday (1 p.m.). 
 
Oregon Tech requires masks at soccer matches. Southern Oregon requires masks and proof of vaccination or a negative test within 48 hours prior to entry and a photo ID. 
 
The Eagles are 12-6-2 all time against Oregon Tech. OIT has won the last two meetings. Aside from an OIT forfeit in 2018, the last time the Eagles won in Klamath Falls came in 2016 when NU won, 2-1, in overtime. Southern Oregon has a 5-1 edge in the all-time series and has won the last five games. NU has scored one goal in those five contests. The Eagles are 0-2 in Ashland.  
 
Oregon Tech registered a 1-0, double-overtime win at Northwest last spring. Tyler Hopp had both of NU's shots on goal. The last meeting between the Eagles and SOU came in the 2019 conference tournament, with SOU winning 3-0. Dylan Murphy, Elliot Misic, and Kyler McIntosh all had shots on goal.
 
Northwest picked up an overtime road victory Wednesday at Puget sound, 4-3. Brayden Corwin, Titus Nickson, Jacob Moon, and Elliot Misic had goals for the Eagles, with Misic, Corwin, and Angel Trejo-Delgado gathering assists.
 
Northwest is 4-1 and will try to match the program's best six-game start (5-1 in 2014). The 2014 team went 15-5 on the season, setting a school record for single-season victories. 
 
With 14 points, Elliot Misic leads the Cascade Collegiate Conference. He has a CCC-leading five goals and is tied for the league lead with four assists. He also leads the CCC with three game-winning goals and 15 shots. Alexander Thiehofe leads the league with 16 saves.
 
Misic leads the Eagles with his five goals this season. Brayden Corwin and Ian Reynoso have two goals each, and Jacob Moon, Titus Nickson, Gian Herrera, and Seito Gao have one apiece. Misic, now with 17 career goals, is tied for seventh on the all-time list with Branson Corwin.
 
With 16 saves, Alexander Thiehofe is tied for the Cascade Collegiate Conference lead and is 68th in the NAIA. He is fifth all time at Northwest with 112. He also is fourth with six career shutouts. He has a 2.31 goals-against average this season.
 
Oregon Tech is 4-0 this season and has not allowed a goal while averaging 4.5 goals per game. Arthur Proost leads the Owls with four goals and one assist for nine points, and Jake Mitchell checks in at three goals and two assists for eight points. John Sarna shares the league lead with four assists. Joel Witts has a perfect goals-against average and has needed only four saves to accomplish that feat. 
 
Southern Oregon is 4-0 this season, having outscored opponents 10-2. Alan Gaytan has three goals and one assist for a team-leading seven points. Joao de Santos has two goals and two assists. Liam Kalhagen carries a 0.55 goals-against average into the weekend.
