SALEM, Ore. – Northwest began its initial beach volleyball season with a learning experience and three 5-0 losses.
 
Top-ranked Corban scored two wins and Southern Oregon one against the newest Eagle squad.
 
Allie Flynn and Carlee Rowell registered a set win in the first loss against Corban. Morgan Harter and Ellie Van Berkum scored a set win against Corban in the final match of the day.
 
Against Eastern Oregon, Flynn and Rowell again won one set, as did Delaney Sparks and Masa Spela Jarc.
 
"We learned a lot today," said NU Head Coach Hannah Lord. "I saw a lot of good things we can capitalize on! Corban and Southern are both great teams, so it was good to see the girls out there working hard and competing with the top teams in the country. The girls got their first-day jitters out of the way and are ready to get back out there tomorrow!"
 
NU plays Bushnell at noon and Southern Oregon at 2 p.m.
