REDDING, Calif. — The Northwest University beach volleyball team traveled to Redding, California, March 13–14, to compete in a Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament hosted by Simpson University at the Redding Sports Complex. The Eagles competed in four duals over the two-day event, earning two team victories against Simpson while battling tough matchups against The College of Idaho and Southern Oregon.
Northwest opened the tournament Friday against The College of Idaho. The Eagles picked up wins from the pairs of Aubree Dees / Ellie Van Berkum and Ava Hoy / Kali Dransfeldt, but ultimately fell in the team result. Later in the day, Northwest earned its first win of the weekend with a victory over Simpson. The Eagles were led by wins from Dees / Van Berkum, Kylie Rankins / Rylie Hangca, and Trinity Godina / Sydney Bass.
On Saturday, Northwest faced Simpson again and secured another team victory. Winning pairs for the Eagles included Dees / Rankins, Dransfeldt / Van Berkum, and Godina / Orianna Muliaga.The Eagles closed the tournament against Southern Oregon. Northwest competed across all courts but was unable to come away with a win in the dual.
Head Coach Meng Bak praised the team's effort throughout the weekend.
"Our team showed up and competed with heart in California. Every pair stepped up, gave their best effort, and represented our program with pride. We're confident this team will keep growing, improving, and competing at their highest level."
Northwest will continue Cascade Collegiate Conference play as the Eagles look to build on their performances from the weekend in Redding.
