EUGENE, OR - The Northwest beach volleyball team claimed the win against Bushnell, 3-2, but got swept by #2 Corban, 5-0. 

The Eagles were able to recapture yesterday's success against the Beacons with a 4, 2, 3, 1, 5 order. First pair Caitlyn James and Kylie Lunday seized the sweep over Kate Palelek and Makenna Mosher, 21-19 and 21-10. Second pair Masa Spela Jarc and Aubree Dees lost their first set to Olivia Kelzenberg and Jazmyn Wilcox, 21-18, but were able to rebound the next two sets to win, 21-13 and 16-14. Like yesterday, it came down to the fifth pair: Ava Hoy and Kali Dransfeldt, and Monet Panther and Haley Engelbrecht. Hoy and Dransfeldt were able to win their first set, 21-14, but came up short in the second set, 21-12. The third set came down to overtime again, and like yesterday, Hoy and Dransfeldt came out on top, securing the win, 15-12. 

The Eagles' match against the Warriors, on the other hand, wasn't as successful. The Eagles were promptly swept in the order 4, 2, 3, 1, 5. Hoy and Dransfeldt were the only pair that was able to pick up a win against Erin Scott and Maddox Snider in the second set, 21-16, but could not hold on in the end, falling 15-8. 

The Eagles will travel to Ashland, OR  where they take on hosts Southern Oregon, College of Idaho, and Simpson University on March 14-15. 

"This morning, we had 4 pairs go into overtime and overall happy we were able to close out the matches again," said Head Coach Meng Bak. "We battled a competitive Bushnell team, and we got to play a very well-established Corban team. They played very well against us. We are hungry to get back in the sand to keep getting better and can't wait to play against Corban again."
