SALEM, OR - The Northwest beach volleyball team concludes their season with back to back losses in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament.
It was an uphill climb to the top with the #2 Warriors and the Yotes stood in the way, and while the Eagles fought valiantly, the ladies in blue came up short. The Warriors were first on the docket and they swiftly took the sweep over the Eagles. Masa Spela Jarc and Aubree Dees were able to win their first set 21-11, but they were not able to surmount the hill as they fell 21-12 and 15-11.
The Yotes were next and they were able to take the win with a 3-1 victory. Spela Jarc and Dees were able to secure a win in a neck and neck battle with Yotes pairs Althea Sandoval and Greta Valaika. Sandoval and Valaika nabbed the first set win in overtime 23-21, but Spela Jarc and Dees dug their heels and completed the comeback winning the next two sets 21-19 and 15-13.
"Firstly, I want to say thank you to my amazing coaching staff," said Head Coach Meng Bak. "I couldn't have done it without them this year. We played a very strong Corban team and they handled business very well against us. Our second round versus the Yotes, the girls made it very close and I'm so proud of them for the effort they gave. I saw them give their best out there."
