CALDWELL, ID - The Northwest Beach Volleyball team have secured a playoff spot with a 4-1 loss against Southern Oregon and a sweep against Simpson University.
The Eagles faced the no. 7 Raiders to start the final day falling by an order of 2, 4, 5, 1, 3. No. 1 pair Caitlyn James and Kylie Lunday picked up the only win, taking the first set 21-18 and taking Raiders' Madi Gray and Tessa Zimmerman to overtime in the second set winning 22-20. No. 3 pair Kylie Rankins and Ellie Van Berkum were able to secure a second set win against Kira Sandoval and Lucertia Benolken 21-18. Rankins and Van Berkum were able to send the third set into overtime, but ultimately the Eagles pair fell just short 16-14.
The Eagles then faced the Redhawks who once again had to forfeit their no. 5 pairs, giving the Eagles a clean sweep. All of the Eagles pairs secured sweeps in their matches which was enough to get the Eagles ticket punched to the playoffs.
The Eagles will start their CCC Beach Volleyball Championship campaign against Corban on Thursday, April 10th at 12pm in Salem, OR.
