KIRKLAND, Wash. — Northwest University beach volleyball opens the 2026 season on Friday, Feb. 27, against Corban University (Ore.), entering the year with momentum and a renewed focus after a strong finish to last season. Head Coach Meng Bak says the program has made clear strides since the end of 2025, particularly in preparation, consistency, and overall growth.
"This group has really bought into the process," Bak said. "We're focused on controlling what we can—our effort, our preparation, and the ways we show up for each other. If we stay disciplined and committed, I believe this team can take another big step forward in 2026."
The Eagles took an intentional approach during the offseason, using last year's close playoff push as motivation. The focus centered on showing up prepared, training with purpose, and staying adaptable as the team worked through different schedules and training environments.
Since the conclusion of last season, Bak has seen noticeable growth in both maturity and consistency. After proving the ability to compete a year ago, the emphasis has shifted toward sustaining a high level of play throughout matches and weekends. Players have grown more confident in their roles and more deliberate in how they prepare.
Northwest is continuing to establish its identity as a disciplined, ball-control focused team that competes with composure and accountability. "That approach," Bak says, "stems from an emphasis on culture, daily habits, and consistent standards within the program."
Looking ahead, the Eagles' goals for the 2026 season include building on last year's progress, competing confidently in conference play, and putting themselves in position for postseason success.
As opening day approaches, Bak says the belief within the team has stood out most."They care about growth, about each other, and about representing the program the right way," he said.
Northwest opens the 2026 campaign against Corban on Feb. 27, looking to carry its preseason work onto the sand.
