Eagles Cruise Past Quest

Sanda Milovic scored a game high 33 points tonight
Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University broke open a close contest to pull away for a 92-70 victory over Quest University (B.C.) tonight in a non-conference game. Sanda Milovic led the Eagles with a season high 33 points.

Tied 15-15 eight minutes into the first half, Northwest would go on a 10-1 run in two minutes of play to take a25-16 lead. A three point shot by Sanda Milovic and a lay in by Olivia VanDlac would increase the Eagle lead to 41-29 with 4:13 to go in the half. A 6-0 Quest run would cut the Northwest lead to six, 41-35 with a minute to go, but another 8-0 spurt capped off by Ashley Coila's driving lay in would give NU a 49-37 lead as they would take a 49-39 lead into halftime.

Quest wouldn't go away easily and would come out fast in the second half with a 6-0 run to make it 49-46 after Miriam Baumann's trey at the 16 minute mark. But, Northwest would catch fire and go on a 16-2 run after a 3-pointer by Domi Mendezona and a Kristen Frey jumper to up the Eagle lead to 65-48. NU would stretch their lead to 29, with 4:59 to go in the game as they would cruise to their 8th victory of the season.

In addition to Milovic's 33 points, Northwest U. (8-4) got 17 points and a game high 8 assists from senior Domi Mendezona. Three players scored 7 points: Jordan Asher, Alyssa Dario, and Olivia VanDlac as the Eagles hit 43% of their shots. NU shot 82% from the free throw line (14-17) and out rebounded Quest 49-41 with 18 offensive rebounds.

Quest (6-3) had four players score in double figures led by Miriam Baumann's 17 points while adding 13 rebounds for the double-double. Aimee Johnston also registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Tessa Needham and Andrea Eidsvik each added 12 for the Kermodes (Spirit Bears). Quest shot 40% for the night, but were hurt by 30 turnovers.

Said NU head coach Ken Crawford, "It was a great team effort tonight with contributions from everyone! That helps develop our depth which will be a great asset to us as we go into the rest of this long season"

Northwest will resume conference play next weekend when they travel to Eugene, Ore., on Friday to take on Northwest Christian and then on to Salem to match up with Corban on Saturday night.
