McGehee and DeWaard Earn Academic All-District Honors

KIRKLAND, Wash. — Northwest University women's basketball seniors Jersey McGehee and Ellie DeWaard have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom, earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.

The award highlights student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding academic success while competing at a high level in their sport, and both McGehee and DeWaard have consistently embodied that balance throughout their collegiate careers.

"Certainly proud of our high academic young ladies who achieve not only success with us in our program but more importantly in the classroom," said Head Coach Randall Edens. "Ellie and Jersey have been solid examples for what it means to be a student-athlete and have represented themselves and women's basketball well throughout their careers. To us, this is no surprise, but it certainly is exciting to see them recognized for the work they do in the classroom. Very proud of each of them."

As seniors, McGehee and DeWaard have played key roles in the program both on and off the court, setting a standard for younger athletes to follow. Their dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence have helped shape the culture of Northwest women's basketball.

This recognition serves as a testament to their hard work over the years and reinforces the program's emphasis on developing well-rounded student-athletes who succeed beyond the game.
