Late SOU Run Downs Northwest

Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – A late game surge gave Southern Oregon a 101-94 Cascade Conference victory over Northwest University. SOU broke a 92-92 tie with 1:32 remaining with a 9-2 run to finish the game.
 
Northwest came out strong in the first half maintaining a lead over the Raiders and would lead 26-22 at the 9:26 mark. A 7-2 spurt by SOU would give them the lead 29-24 as Autumn Durand would hit one of two free throws with 7:14 left in the half. With Southern Oregon leading 38-37, a Jordan Asher 3-pointer would help the Eagles outscore the Raiders 9-4 to take a 46-42 lead at the break.
 
Asher would start the second half off with a trey to put NU up 49-42, but SOU would battle back to re-take the lead, 56-52 on a three point play by Carly Meister with 16:40 showing on the clock. SOU would lead by 9 twice during the half, but the Eagles would come back and a lay in by Sanda Milovic and another by Domi Mendezona would cut the Raider lead to one, 95-94 with a minute to go. SOU would close the game scoring the final 6 points on 6 straight free throws to pull away for the victory.
 
Northwest U (11-8, 3-4 CCC) was led by Jordan Asher's 28 points and 5 assists followed by Domi Mendezona's 26 points and 5 assists. Sanda Milovic added 12 for the Eagles who shot 47% for the night. SOU out rebounded the Eagles 49-37.
Allison Gida led Southern Oregon (16-4, 5-3 CCC) with a double-double scoring 26 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Kristian Schoenherr scored 20 for the Raiders and Carly Meister added 16 points and 8 rebounds. SOU shot 47% for the game and hit 37 of 50 free throw attempts for 74%.
 
"It was a tough loss for us tonight, but I felt our team competed hard with a very good Southern Oregon team," commented Ken Crawford, NU head coach. "We still need to do the little things to be able to get by good teams and we'll continue to work to do so."
