Eagles Start Fast, Cruise to 13th Win

Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – A fast start with three point shots falling early, Northwest University broke out to a 20-7 first half lead as they cruised to an 86-66 Cascade Conference victory over Concordia tonight for their 13th win of the season.

The Eagles scored their first 18 points of the game with 3-pointers including three by Jordan Asher and two by Alyssa Dario to put NU up 20-7 six minutes into the game. Concordia would never recover as NU would maintain a comfortable lead the entire game. Corinne Burke's jumper with 6:13 left in the half would give Northwest a 32-10 lead as the Eagles would take a 44-23 lead into the locker room. The Eagles hit 9 of 20 three point attempts for an impressive 45% shooting average.

NU would start the second half just as they did the first as baskets by Domi Mendezona, Alyssa Dario and Sanda Milovic would give the Eagles a 23 point, 50-27 lead two minutes into the final period. Sanda Milovic would hit two free throws at the 7:14 mark to give NU their largest lead at 72-44 as Coach Ken Crawford would give all the Eagles time on the court. Olivia VanDlac would end the scoring for Northwest as she would sink two free throws with 2 seconds to go.

Jordan Asher and Alyssa Dario led the way for Northwest U (13-8, 5-4 CCC) with 14 points each. Jenna Lewis would score 9 points while Chanara Greene would grab 13 rebounds to go along with her 8 points for the night. NU would hit 16 of 21 from the free throw line for 76% and won the battle of the rebounds with a 49-46 edge over the Cavaliers.

Concordia (3-17, 1-8 CCC) was led by Gabi Beyers' 12 points while teammate Caitlyn McCutcheon scored 11 and grabbed 6 rebounds for the Cavs who were held to 31% shooting on the night. Kelly Huey contributed 9 points and added 6 rebounds.

"It was a great start for us tonight," said NU head coach, Ken Crawford. "Alyssa Dario had a great game for us tonight. I was very happy with the way our ladies built on the energy they brought to the court. It proved to be a great road trip for us!"

The Eagles will return to Kirkland to host Corban and Northwest Christian next Friday and Saturday night.
