NU Remains Unbeaten in League Play

Acacia Johnson scored her 13th and 14th goals of the season in today's win.
Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho – The Northwest University Eagles remained unbeaten in Cascade Conference play with a 3-1 victory over the College of Idaho this afternoon. NU improves to 6-0 in league play and 8-5-1 overall. The College of Idaho drops their first CCC game which now stands at 3-1-2 and 6-4-3 for the season.

NU retains their hold on first place in the CCC with 18 points. Second place Concordia had 12 points (4-1) and C of I is now in third with 11.

Acacia Johnson scored first for Northwest U on a one-on-one breakaway. Her first shot was deflected by the C of I goalkeeper, but she slotted in the rebound to put NU up 1-0 at the 20:54 mark. The Eagles held C of I scoreless the remainder of the half.

The Yotes got a fast start in the second half and it only took 1:46 into the period for the Yotes to tie the score at 1-1 after Bri Blair's goal. But NU came right back in the 51st minute when Annie Brynn (Stauffer) Gleason touching in a quick pass from Tatyana Reveles after a cross into the box by Acacia Johnson for the game winner.

Johnson got the game clincher at 68:10 taking Tatyana Reveles' shot off the crossbar to knock in her 14th goal of the season. Acacia has already broken her own NU season record for goals which was 10 set in 2011. Eagle goalkeeper, Patty Hughes, made three saves in the final 10 minutes of play to keep the Yotes off the scoreboard. Hughes made 7 saves on the day earning the win.

Northwest U edged C of I in the shot category with 14 shots to the Yotes' 12. Brittany Houghton had 5 saves in goal for the College of Idaho.

"The ladies didnt have their greatest game of the year today," said NU assistant coach, Brian Fekkema, "but they showed the ability to dig deep and do what it takes to get a big win on the road."

The Eagles will be in La Grande on Saturday to take on Eastern Oregon at 12 p.m.
