Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. – Biola University pulled away in the second half for a 66-48 win over visiting Northwest University this afternoon in a non-conference game. It was a homecoming of sorts for NU's
Ken Crawford who was a successful women's coach at BU before moving back to Washington state.
Jordan Asher's 3-pointer 10 minutes into the first half gave NU an 11-6 lead in the early going, but Biola would go on a 8-2 run capped off by Taylor Casey's driving layup to take a 14-13 lead at the 7:04 mark. BU would maintain the lead for the remainder of the stretching their lead to 29-20 with 2:05 to go, but two
Codi Hallinan free throws would make it a 28-22 Biola lead at the half.
Biola would increase their lead to 12, 39-27, 5 minutes into the second half and Aubrey Mittel's 3-pointer with 14:28 to go in the game would make it a 45-29 lead. BU's largest lead of 23 points would come at the 11:02 mark with another Mittel trey to give the home team Eagles a 54-31 lead. With 6:40 showing on the clock,
Jordan Asher's 3-pointer would cut the BU lead to 14, 55-41, but it would be the closest NU would get as Biola would go on to post the victory.
Asher led the NU Eagles with 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Chanara Greene scored 9 points while coming down with 10 rebounds and
Hannah Carlson would score 7 points for the Eagles who were held to 28% shooting for the game. NU out rebounded Biola, 48-35.
Biola (3-1) was led by Amanda Darouie's 12 points with Aubrey Mittel contributing 10 points. Chelsea Hill grabbed 7 rebounds to lead the Eagles who shot 37% for the game and 44% from beyond the 3-point arc.
"It was a tough game for us this afternoon," commented NU head coach,
Ken Crawford following the game. "We didn't execute as well as we are capable and that caught up to us. I know we will continue to work hard each day to get better. All in all, I felt it was a very good road trip for us."
