Knight's Shooting Downs Eagles

Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific came back from a first quarter deficit, aided by 47 percent shooting, to outscore Northwest U in the next three periods for a 71-63 Cascade Conference victory tonight on the Knights' home court.

Northwest U took a 19-18 first quarter lead with Miranda Langenhorst scoring inside the paint at the buzzer, but Warner Pacific would come back strong in the second period to outscore the Eagles 19-12 as they would take a 37-31 halftime lead with the help of 13 points and 50 percent shooting from Daesha Jackson. Kristen Frey would make it a one point, 27-26, WPC lead, but the Knights would hit two straight 3-pointers to stretch their lead to 33-26 with 3:19 to go in the half. NU's Langenhorst would cut the WPC lead to 34-31 with 7 seconds to go, but Kendra Prueninger's trey as the buzzer would sound, would give WPC a 37-31 lead.

NU would cut into the Knight lead in the third quarter to make it 47-44, but a 6-0 run by Warner Pacific would get their lead back up to 9 points, 52-44. The third period would end with WPC leading 57-50. A 13-2 run to start the 4th quarter would increase the Warner Pacific lead to 18, 70-52, but the Eagles would be unsuccessful in a comeback in spite of an 8-0 run in the final 3 minutes of the game to make it a 73-61 final score.

Jordan Asher led the way for Northwest U (4-6, 1-1 CCC) with 14 points and 6 assists. Miranda Langenhorst would add 11 points and Kristen Frey contributed 8 points for the Eagles. NU shot 36 percent for the game including 36 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. The Eagles out rebounded the Knights 38-35. NU was without starter Mariah Stacona who sat out due to an injury.

Warner Pacific (6-1, 2-0 CCC) was led by Daesha Jackson's 26 points. Taylor Howlett and Lindsey Loe each scored 10 points for the Knights who hit 47 percent of their shots and 11 of 27 from the 3-point line for 41 percent.

"It was a tough loss against a hot shooting Warner Pacific team," stated Ken Crawford, NU head coach. "We continue to take these experiences to try to be more mature and more disciplined in our play. We're looking forward to be getting back on the court tomorrow night."

Northwest U remains in Portland and will play Multnomah University Saturday night at 5:30 p.m.
