Skylights Continue Unbeaten Streak

Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. - Montana State Northern remained unbeaten as they put together strong second and third periods on their way to a 67-37 victory over Northwest University in the final game of the Adidas Northwest Classic tonight. The Skylights outscored Northwest U 34-15 in the middle periods to build a 50-25 lead.
 
Northwest U tied the game at 10-10 with 3:04 left in the first quarter with a Hannah Carlson jumper, but two straight jumpers by Natalee Faupel would give MSUN a 16-10 lead as the buzzer would sound.
 
Leading by 9 in the second quarter, 22-13, MSUN would go on an 13-4 run to close out the half with a 35-17 lead while their defense would hold NU to 2-8 shooting in that stretch.
 
The Skylights' would outscore the Eagles 15-8 in the third quarter to lead 50-25 at the quarter's end.
 
In the final period, Northwest U's shooting woes would continue and MSU Northern would build their lead to 28 with 3:25 to go as they would go on to post their sixth victory of the year without a defeat. 
 
Northwest U (3-2) was led by Hannah Carlson's 10 points and Miranda Langenhorst's 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. The MSUN defense held NU to 25 per cent shooting (17-69) for the game and 17 per cent shooting from 3-point range.
 
Montana State Northern improves to 6-0 and was led by Sierra Richards double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds. Natalee Faupel added 14 points and 6 rebounds for the Skylights who shot 52 per cent from the field, but managed just 22 per cent from beyond the 3-point arc.
 
Said NU coach, Ken Crawford, "The first Adidas-Northwest Classic was a great success.  Huge crowds, lots of excitement and some good basketball. Great Falls and Montana Northern were tough teams to play….very disciplined, big and veteran. It was definitely an experience we look forward to learning from and it will help us down the road."
