Yotes Turn Back Eagles with Big Quarters

Charmaine Bradford led NU with 15 points
Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – The College Idaho hit 49 per cent of their shots as they turned back Northwest University, 85-60, in Cascade Conference play and improve to 4-2 in league play. Big quarters in the first and third period proved to be the difference as the Yotes outscored the Eagles 50-31.
 
Four minutes into the first quarter Northwest U led the Yotes 11-5 after a Mariah Stacona 3-pointer. But, two straight 3-pointers by Kiara Skinner would start a 19-2 C of I run putting the Yotes up 24-13 at the 2:16 mark. Free throws by Charmaine Bradford would bring NU to within nine, 24-15, as the period would end.
 
The College of Idaho would maintain a lead throughout the second period and two free throws by Maddie Skaggs with 1:56 on the clock would give the Yotes their largest lead of the half at 50-26. C of I would go on to lead 42-31 at halftime.
 
A 13-2 run in the final 4:08 of the third quarter would lead to a 21 point, 68-47 lead as Alyssa Case would drill a 3-pointer at the end of the period. Northwest U would never recover from that point on as the Yotes would go on to build their lead to 85-58 with 1:38 remaining in the game to take the victory.
 
For Northwest U (8-9, 3-4 CCC), Charmaine Bradford led the way with 15 points. Katie Rozumny added 13 points for the Eagles who shot 36 per cent for the game, 39 per cent from the 3-point line (7-18). Leading scorer, Miranda Langenhorst was held to 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
 
Petra Lumpert led C of I (4-8, 4-2 CCC) with 22 points and 12 of the team's 20 assists for the double-double while teammate Kiara Skinner scored 20 points for the Yotes. Madison Pilster added 17 points and 5 assists for the College of Idaho which shot 49 per cent for the game, 41 per cent from the 3-point line.
 
Said NU head coach, Ken Crawford after the game, "It was a disappointing loss tonight and we didn't play well at all. Now the challenge is to continue learning and get ready for our next two games. We will continue to grow and mature as a basketball team. I know the effort will be there!"
