Eagles Cruise to Victory Over Walla Walla

Miranda Langenhorst scored 21 points and pulled down 15 rebounds
Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The NU Eagles broke out to a 20-4 first quarter lead and never looked back on their way to a 73-53 conference victory tonight over Walla Walla University. Miranda Langenhorst led the Eagles with a double-double: 21 points and 15 rebounds.
 
The Eagles jumped out early limiting Walla Walla to just 2 for 18 shooting in the first period on their way to the 20-4 first period lead.  Northwest U maintained the lead in the second quarter and Emily Henderson's lay-up with 7:14 left in the period put NU up 27-3. WWU would go on a 13-4 run  to cut the Eagle lead to 31-16 with 2:40 on the clock, but a 7-0 run at the end of the half would give the Eagles a 22 point, 38-16 lead at the break.
 
NU would not allow the Wolves to get any closer in the third quarter, outscoring WWU 18-10 and Miranda Langenhorst's lay-up in the paint with 16 seconds to go would balloon the Eagles lead to 30 points, 56-26. Four new players would play in the final quarter for Northwest U as the Eagles would maintain a comfortable distance as they would post their second straight victory.
 
In addition to Langenhorst's double-double for Northwest U (10-11, 5-6 CCC), all twelve of her teammates scored with Katie Rozumny leading the way with 8 points. Hannah Carlson scored 7 points grabbing 8 rebounds and Deja Andrades came off the bench to score 7 points. NU shot 37 per cent for the game and just 15 per cent from the 3-point line. The Eagles held a big advantage in rebounding with a 57-43 margin.
 
Walla Walla (2-13, 0-9 CCC) was led by Emily Downs' 18 points with teammate Alyssa Blankenship adding 15 points with 6 rebounds. Morgan Stanyer contributed 10 points for the Wolves who shot 26 per cent for the game.
 
Said Coach Ken Crawford following the game, "It was a solid win for us tonight and we got contributions from everyone and a chance to work on a great number of things. Going into the last half of the season, it's going to be exciting."
