Carroll Pulls Away to Defeat Eagles

HELENA, Mont. – The NU Eagles opened their three game swing in Montana with a 74-33 loss at the hands of Carroll College tonight on the Fighting Saints home court. NU made the trip without four players, all out with injuries.
 
NU trailed by 9 at the end of the first quarter, 20-11, but managed to score only 22 points in the next three quarters as Carroll would outscore the Eagles 54-22. NU had trouble finding the basket shooting 30% for the night and 28% from beyond the 3-point line as the Saints hit 41% from the field. Carroll was 15 of 16 from the free throw line for 94% while NU would only go to the free throw line for 4 attempts, making 2 of them.
 
Kalee Fowler led Northwest U (1-2) with 8 points to lead the Eagles. Miranda Langenhorst pulled down 5 rebounds. The Saints held a sizeable, 41-26, edge on the backboards.
 
Carroll (3-0) had four players score double figures led by Hannah Dean and Jaidyn Lyman who both finished with 12 points each. Dean pulled also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double and added 4 assists. Lyman had 6 steals for Carroll.

"It's a learning experience for the Eagles as we try to regroup and remodel our team after some tough injuries," said Ken Crawford, Eagle head coach. "We will continue to play hard and move forward."

 
The Eagles move on to great Falls for a game with the University of Providence tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. PT and will remain in Great falls to finish up with Montana State Northern on Saturday.
