Eagles Grab Victory on Senior Night

Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University celebrated their senior night and a 94-39 conference victory over visiting Walla Walla University tonight in a packed NU Pavilion. Seniors Paige Burson and Victoria Makin played their final regular season game tonight.
 
Northwest U jumped out early taking a 20-6 first quarter lead. Hannah Carlson's lay-up at the 5:44 mark of the second period would give the Eagles a 33-9 lead. With NU leading 47-14, Alyssa Blankenship's steal would lead to her jumper as the buzzer sounded to make it a 47-16 game at halftime.
 
Walla Walla would have a stronger 3rd quarter as they would stay close to the Eagles most of the period. NU would outscore the Wolves 22-19 as they would lead 69-35 at the end of the period. The Wolves would then go cold in the 4th quarter yielding 25 points to the Eagles while scoring just four points of their own as NU would post the victory.
 
Kale Fowler and Paige Burson led Northwest U (13-15, 8-10 CCC) with 14 points each. Hannah Carlson scored 12 points and Victoria Making tallied 11 points for the Eagles who shot 50 per cent for the game. NU held a sizeable 57-34 margin in rebounding.
 
Walla Walla (2-21, 0-17 CCC) was led by Alyssa Blankenship's 12 points. Walla Walla shot 24 per cent for the game. Sierra Briggs scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The Wolves were 5 of 6 from the free throw line for 83 per cent.
 
"I felt it was a great team effort tonight," commented Ken Crawford, NU head coach. "We got contributions from every player. I like where we are as we go into the last weekend of the season. The team has worked hard, and it is paying off!"
