Yotes Come Back to Defeat Eagles

Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho – A big second quarter would help lift the College of Idaho to a 72-58 victory tonight in the J.A. Albertson Center.
 
The Eagles would come out strong in the first period taking a 21-16 lead as the buzzer would sound. NU would shoot 47% for the first half while the Yotes would heat up in the second period and shoot 54% for the first two periods. C of I would start the second quarter with an 8-2 run to take a 24-23 lead. Miranda Langenhorst would get the lead back for the Eagles with her score in the paint for a 25-24 lead at the 7:41 mark. But, that would be NU's final lead of the half as the Yotes would slowly increase their lead with Madison Holly's 3-pointer with 19 seconds left giving the C of I a 39-32 halftime. Lead.
 
NU would be unable to make up any ground in the third quarter as the Yotes would continue to shoot at a 50% clip while NU would cool down to hit 33% of their shots. C of I's Holly would hit a jumper with 1:44 to go in the quarter to give the Yotes a 55-44 lead at the end of the period.
 
C of I would continue to lead throughout the final period, stretching their lead to 18 points, 62-44, after Alyssa Case's 3-pointer at the 8:16 mark as they would go on to post their fourth straight victory.
 
Miranda Langenhorst (7-17, 4-11 CCC) led the Eagles with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Kalee Fowler added 12 and Mariah Stacona scored 9 points and added 6 assists. NU shot 40% for the game, 27% from the 3-point line.
 
The College of Idaho (8-14, 8-8 CCC) was led by Madison Holly's 20 points on 5 for 10 shooting from 3-point range. Keahi-lele Roy added 13 points and 7 assists for the Yotes who shot 52% for the game and 46% from beyond the 3-point arc.
 
Next Up: Northwest U returns home to Kirkland to host the Evergreen State College on Tuesday night in the NU Pavilion.
