KIRKLAND – Northwest women's basketball gets back to work as College of Idaho and No. 18 Eastern Oregon invade Kristi Brodin Pavilion this weekend for 5:30 p.m. Cascade Collegiate Conference games Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The Eagles are coming off a tough overtime loss at Evergreen State, 88-77. Northwest dropped to 3-12 overall and 1-4 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Sam Van Loo had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Lexi Biggerstaff added 18 for the Eagles.
Van Loo is 19
th in the NAIA with her 53.7 shooting percentage, and she leads the Eagles with 12.4 points per game. She is the lone NU player with a double-digit scoring average, but freshman
Maya DuChesne is close at 9.8.
The Eagles are 23
rd in NAIA Division II in offensive rebounds, averaging 14.7 per game. Van Loo, who leads the team with 7.3 rebounds per game, is 48
th in Division II with 3.2 offensive rebounds per contest.
Northwest and College of Idaho split the series last year, with the Eagles claiming a 76-67 win over the Yotes in Kirkland. Van Loo had 13 points, and Livi Lindsey added 11 for NU.
College of Idaho is 5-10 overall and 3-3 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference after its 78-70 win over Northwest Christian Saturday. The Yotes are 24
th nationally in free throw percentage at 73.1 percent. Mackenzie Royce-Radford leads CI with 13.2 points and 3.0 assists per game. Tayla Sayer leads the team with 4.2 rebounds per game.
Eastern Oregon has a 12-game win streak against the Eagles, including a narrow 94-91 double-overtime win in Kirkland last season. Jane Nelson had 20 points for EOU, while Andie Kristinat scored 11 for NU.
No. 18 Eastern Oregon is 9-7 overall and 3-3 in the CCC after losing three straight games to Oregon Tech, Northwest Christian, and Corban. Beverly Slater leads the team with 13.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Slater is 17
th in NAIA Division II in rebounding, and the Mountaineers rank sixth nationally in rebound margin.
