KIRKLAND: Northwest can take a big step toward clinching a postseason berth this weekend as the Eagles visit two tough road foes at Eastern Oregon Friday and College of Idaho Saturday.
 
Both games begin at 5:30 p.m. local time. Warner Pacific used a halftime-spanning 25-2 run for an 87-73 win over the Eagles in Kirkland Saturday. Sam Van Loo led NU with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Livi Lindsey added 11 points and Maya DuChesne 10.
 
Van Loo leads the Eagles with 12.4 points per game this season. She shoots 51.8 percent from the field and is 26th nationally with that percentage.
 
Van Loo leads Northwest with 7.7 rebounds per game. She is 28th nationally with 3.44 offensive rebounds per game, and the Eagles are 39th in NAIA II with 13.24 offensive rebounds per game.
 
Eastern Oregon edged Northwest 85-80 last month in Kirkland. Jane Nelson led the Mountaineers with 18 points. The Eagles had four double-figure scorers, and three of those came off the bench, led by Grace Meza with 19 points. EOU has won the last 13 meetings with Northwest. 
 
EOU is third nationally with a 12.0 rebound margin, led by Beverly Slater, who averages 9.3 boards to go with her team-leading 13.1 scoring average. The Mountaineers are 19-7 overall and tied for first at 13-3 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. They have won nine consecutive games.
 
NU beat College of Idaho last month 65-53, with Van Loo getting 15 points and 10 rebounds. Mackenzie Royce-Radford led the Yotes with 12 points.
 
College of Idaho is 10-15 overall and 8-8 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference after successive losses at Warner Pacific and Eastern Oregon. Royce-Radford leads the Yotes with 11.9 points per game.
