KIRKLAND - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Wednesday announced Northwest University's Sam Van Loo as a member of the Academic All-District 4 women's basketball team.
Van Loo, a sophomore elementary education major from Lynden, leads the Eagles with 12.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game as a starting forward.
"Sam is the epitome of hard work both on and off the court," said NU Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "Her leadership, commitment to excellence, and willingness to learn are all part of who she is. This is a great honor for her."
The award, voted upon by NAIA sports information directors from District 4, which includes Washington, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Wyoming, and Canada, requires a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, a significant contribution to the success of the team, and sophomore or higher academic status.
Van Loo is the lone Cascade Collegiate Conference representative on the five-member team. The others include Morgan Bennett of Wayland Baptist, Jamie Nielson of Lewis-Clark State, Abby Selzer of Oklahoma City, and Mesa Williams of Montana Tech.
As an Academic All-District selection, Van Loo is now a nominee for the Academic All-America award.
