KIRKLAND – Northwest officially opens women's basketball season Saturday with a noon home game against Lewis & Clark College from Portland.

Northwest operates under the King County vaccination policy, which requires proof of completed vaccination (two weeks completed) or a negative COVID-19 test result. Rapid antigen tests are not acceptable. Northwest students and staff must show ID.
Â
NU is 4-3 in its all-time series with Lewis & Clark College. Only one of those games has been played in Kirkland, with the Eagles getting the 76-68 win in 2017. The Pioneers won the last meeting. After a strong first quarter, the Eagles faded in their 2019 loss at Lewis & Clark.
Sam VanLoo led the Eagles with 23 points.Â
Â
The Eagles won six consecutive games to finish the 2021 season last spring. Northwest has not won seven games in a row since a seven-game streak in the 2010-11 season. NU was 5-0 at home last season and comes into the game on Saturday with a six-game home winning streak.
Â
Sam VanLoo led the Eagles last season with 13.8 points per game. She has been the leading scorer for NU each of the last three seasons and was the second-leading scorer as a freshman.
Â
Livi Lindsey led the Eagles with two steals per game last season. She has 99 career steals and will become just the seventh player to reach 100 career steals in an NU uniform. The record is 117.
Â
The Pioneers didn't play last season. Delsie Johnson, a 6-0 forward who led the team with 15.3 points and 8.3 rebounds in 2019-20, is back. Lewis & Clark was 3-21 in the 2019-20 season.
