Eagles to Host Non-Conference Weekend Games

KIRKLAND – Northwest plays a pair of non-conference home games this weekend when Linfield visits at 5 p.m. on Friday and Pacific Lutheran drops in for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday.
 
Friday is Coach Ken Crawford's first opportunity to get his 200th career coaching win. Crawford is 103-126 at Northwest and 199-216 in his college coaching career. While he is third all-time in total wins, Coach Crawford has the best winning percentage at .450 among NU women's basketball coaches. He was 95-90 over six seasons at Biola.
 
Northwest has a vaccine protocol in place for fans. Proof of a full vaccination battery (completed on or before Nov. 9) or a negative PCR COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the scheduled game time after 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov 20) is required. Self-administered tests are not acceptable.
 
Sam VanLoo led the Eagles (6-2) with 17 points and 11 rebounds in NU's 72-56 win at Walla Walla on Saturday. Livi Lindsey tacked on 10 points, and Maya DuChesne contributed eight points and seven boards.
 
Northwest is 2-7 in the Linfield rivalry. The teams last met in the 2019-20 season, with Linfield taking a 63-61 win in Oregon. DuChesne led NU with 17 points, and VanLoo brought down 14 rebounds. Delaney Ragan, who returns for the Wildcats, had 17 points.
 
Linfield comes to Kirkland with a 0-9 record after a 74-63 home loss to Lewis & Clark College. Gillyan Landis leads the Wildcats with 13.2 points per game. Emma Schmerbach tops the team with 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Janessa Yniguez averages 2.1 assists per game.
 
Northwest is 6-14 in its history with Pacific Lutheran. The Lutes got a 77-60 win in Tacoma in the 2019-20 season. Sam VanLoo had 10 points and eight rebounds in that game for NU. 
 
Pacific Lutheran hosts Evergreen State on Wednesday and has a 3-4 record heading into that game. The Lutes lost at Pacific University on Saturday, 76-50. Josie Napoli leads PLU with 15.7 points and 4.4 assists per game. Stacie Spahr averages an impressive 9.3 rebounds per game.
 
Three Eagles average double-figure scoring this season, led by Lindsey at 11.4 points per game. VanLoo gets 10.6 points per game, and Grace Meza checks in at 10. VanLoo leads the Eagles with 8.9 rebounds per game this season, with Cailtin Monten coming off the bench to average 4.5. Lindsey leads the guards with 5.1 rebounds per game. 
 
Lindsey has a career 117 steals with 18 this season, tying the school career record. She is just the seventh player to reach 100 career steals in an NU uniform.
