KIRKLAND – Northwest officially opens the season this weekend, hosting the Cascade Classic in Kristi Brodin Pavilion.

The Classic begins with the College of Idaho taking on Pacific Lutheran on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The Eagles open the season with William Jessup at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The action continues on Saturday with the College of Idaho taking on WJU at 3 p.m., and the Eagles finish off the weekend against Pacific Lutheran at 5 p.m.

Northwest is 1-1 in the all-time series with William Jessup, and this will be the first meeting in Kirkland. NU lost in Rocklin, Calif., 61-48, in 2017-18 and escaped California with a 64-63 win in 2013-14.Â

Pacific Lutheran leads the series with NU, 14-7. The Eagles won the last contest, 62-51, in Kirkland last season.

In its two exhibition games, the Eagles got 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game from Maya DuChesne. Kyrin Baklund averaged 8.5 points, and Grace Harder and Maria Arroyo averaged 7.5 points per game.

This is Pacific Lutheran's opening weekend. They lost an exhibition at Seattle Pacific on Saturday, 66-33. Sydney Reisner, Emi Wada, and Ava Edmonds had six points each for the Lutes in that game. Edmonds averaged 11.6 points per game last season when PLU went 7-16 overall.Â

William Jessup comes into the Challenge at 1-3, following an 80-60 loss at home to Bushnell. Makaila Napoleon leads the Warriors with 12.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 3.0 assists per game. Natalie Moulos averages 11.5 points, and Andrea Jovicevic gets 10.3 points per game.Â
