Eagles Rally Late but Fall at No. 18 Corban

Box Score

SALEM, Ore. – Northwest University women's basketball put together a resilient road performance Saturday night but came up just short in a 74–67 Cascade Collegiate Conference loss to No. 18 Corban at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

The Eagles (4-9, 0-5 CCC) battled through an up-and-down game that featured multiple momentum swings, refusing to go away despite facing double-digit deficits on several occasions. Northwest's persistence paid off in the third quarter, where the Eagles erased a 14-point hole and briefly took a three-point lead with just over a minute remaining in the period.

Northwest found its rhythm coming out of halftime, outscoring the Warriors 26–18 in the third quarter behind aggressive defense and balanced scoring. The Eagles forced turnovers, pushed the tempo, and knocked down timely shots to shift the pressure onto the home team.

Corban (11-2, 4-1 CCC) responded in the fourth quarter, however, limiting Northwest to 11 points and converting consistently at the free-throw line down the stretch to hold off the upset bid.

The Eagles placed three players in double figures and showcased strong depth, with eight players scoring at least five points. Guard Kaleah Medeiros led Northwest with 12 points, while Jersey McGehee and forward Ellie DeWaard each added 10 points. DeWaard also pulled down seven rebounds, and McGehee chipped in seven boards and two assists in an all-around effort.

Despite the loss, Northwest demonstrated growth and competitiveness against a ranked conference opponent, particularly with its ability to respond to adversity on the road. The Eagles will look to build on that momentum as they continue CCC play and search for their first conference victory.
