Eagle Men Complete the Geoduck Sweep

Box Score OLYMPIA, Wash. – Northwest University's Michael Greene scored a game high 26 points in leading the Eagles to a 76-57 non-conference win over Evergreen tonight in the CRC Gymnasium. The Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season.

NU took an early 16-9 lead on consecutive jumpers by Nemanja Grujicic and C.J. Carter. With 7:29 on the clock, Ryan McIntosh would hit a 3-pointer to increase the Eagle lead to 14 points at 32-18. Four straight points by McIntosh with 1:28 remaining until halftime would grow the NU lead to 42-24, their largest lead of the half. ESC's Mark Taylor would hit a jumper in the final minute of the period as NU would take a 16 point, 42-26 lead into the locker room.

Kyle Calhoun would hit two straight jumpers to start the second half for Evergreen as they would close the lead to 11, 45-34, but four straight points by Northwest, capped off by Michael Greene's two free throws would return the NU lead to 15 points, 49-34, with just over 15 minutes left in the game. A 10-4 run by the Eagles would increase their lead to 59-38 at the 9 minute mark as they would maintain the cushion to register their third win of the season.

Northwest U. (3-1) was led by Michael Greene's 24 points as he would go 11 for 13 from the field hitting 85% of his shots and a perfect 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Nemanja Grujicic scored a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds as NU would dominate the boards with a 43-27 rebounding margin. Senior Ryan McIntosh added 15 points and C.J. Carter chipped in 10 as the Eagles would shoot 49% on the night and 94% from the free throw line (15-16).

KJ Hong, Evergreen's (1-2) 2nd leading scorer, was held without a point tonight while Kyle Calhoun led the Geoducks with 17 points. Forward Marc Taylor added 14 points as the Geoducks hit 24 of 62 shots for 39% shooting on the night. ESC went 6 for 10 from the charity stripe for 60%.

Said coach John Van Dyke following the game, "Despite our poor outside shooting, I was really encouraged by how our guys battled as a team tonight. It was a great team win that gives us good momentum heading into next week."
