With 2:56 left in the game and NU up 68-61, WPC would go on a 7-1 run capped off by Josh Thomas' 3-pointer to make it a one point game, 69-68, at the 2:18 mark. The Knights would take the rebound and Sampson-Young would then hit the game winner on a running shot at the buzzer to the one point victory.

The loss over shadowed an outstanding shooting night by the Eagles who hit 53 per cent for the game and 57 per cent in the second half.

Warner Pacific (12-16, 8-12 CCC) was led by De'Corrius Sampson-Young's 17 points and 6 assists. Collin Malcolm added 16 points and 9 rebounds while Josh Thomas came off the bench to score 13 points for the Knights who shot 44 per cent for the game, 58 per cent in the second half.

"A tough way to lose a ball game, but credit Warner Pacific for not quitting and getting the game winner," said John Van Dyke. "We've got to be able to close out a game to be successful and we did not do that tonight. I'm pleased with our effort for the most part, and 20 more assists tonight shows we are playing team basketball."

The Eagles will be the No. 6 seed in next week's conference tournament, but will not know their opponent until later in the day on Sunday as there could be a potential 3-way tie for second in the CCC between Eastern Oregon, College of Idaho and Oregon Tech. There may have to be a coin toss to decide the No. 2 and No. 3 seed. NU will play at the No. 3 seed.
