Hot Shooting Propels Eagles Over the Wolves

Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Aided by 60% shooting for the game, the NU Eagles left no doubt they wanted a sweep of this weekend's games as they defeated Walla Walla University, 96-66, this afternoon on Windemuth Court.

The win moved the Eagles into the 8th and final playoff spot, making next weekend's games important in securing a place in the post season tournament

The Eagles got off to a fast start taking a 20-6 lead after a 3-point play by Tre Benton wit 15:01 ion the clock. Walla Walla's shooting would improve to 44% in the second half, but the Eagles would not cool down as Ryan Ricks' 3-pointer with 15:34 to go in the game would stretch the NU lead to 29 points, 62-33. "I was very pleased with our effort both nights, but I was especially pleased with our team play and balanced scoring," said Jeff Drinkwine, NU head coach. "We showed a lot of improvement this weekend and hope to carry it over to next weekend for our final two games of the regular season. Ryan Ricks has really gained a lot of confidence in his role as a starter for us and that's not easy for a freshman."

Next Up: NU hosts Warner Pacific and Mutnomah for their final two regular season games. Eagles seniors will be honored on Saturday night.
