KIRKLAND – Northwest returns to the hardwoods Sunday with a 3:30 p.m. contest at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon.

The Eagles felt just a tiny sting in a loss that did not count Wednesday, falling in an exhibition game to NCAA Division II Hawaii Pacific–a program that had won a national title in its NAIA Division I heyday. Just for good measure, Hussayn Ford had another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Northwest returns to counting games Sunday at Linfield.

This will be the first meeting between Linfield and NU in the Jeff Drinkwine coaching era. The Wildcats are 1-1 this season with a win over Whittier and a loss at Redlands. Linfield has five players averaging in double figures, led by 6-5 forward Grant Gibb at 16.0. Will Burghardt gets 15.5 points per game from his guard position. LC averages 23.5 turnovers per game.

Ford has scored in double figures in all 34 games of his Northwest career and has had a double-double in his last seven games.

The Eagles are in the top 10 nationally in nine statistical categories. They are third in assists per game and field goal percentage, fourth in total rebounds and rebound margin, fifth in scoring margin and defensive rebounds per game, and sixth in total scoring offense, rebound defense, and assist/turnover ratio.

Northwest averages 102 points per game. Ford leads that effort at 18.3 points per game, with Cesar Sandoval at 14, Tre Newman at 13.3, and Ryan Ricks and Christian Hakilimali both at 11.5.

The Eagles have a 19-rebound advantage on average through four games, 47.5 to 28.5. Ford leads the team at 11.3 per game and is eighth nationally. Hakilimali and Dejwan Walker average 5.8 per game.

Northwest is shooting 56.2 percent from the field with three starters, Hakilimali (65.5), Ford (65.3), and Tanner Davis (63.6), shooting better than 60 percent from the floor.

Ricks is averaging three three-pointers per game and is shooting 46.2 percent from behind the arch. Jase Paulsen has contributed with nine three-pointers made this season.

Hakilimali leads the Eagles at 4.8 assists per game, with Walker close behind at 4.3. The Eagles average 22.8 assists per game.

The Eagles average 11 steals per game, and Ford has 10 this season. Walker is second on the team with eight. The Eagles are 11th in the nation in steals per game.
