KIRKLAND – Northwest hits the road this weekend for two games in Great Falls, Montana, taking on Montana State-Northern on Friday and Providence on Saturday. Both games tip off at 6 p.m. Pacific.

Connor Drinkwine put up 30 points Saturday in his college debut. The freshman from Puyallup was 6-of-11 from three-point range and put down all six of his free throw attempts.Â

CaCoa Chatman distributed five assists in the season opener on Saturday and posted 16 points in a team-best 36 minutes.

Montana State-Northern is 5-1 on the season and 3-0 in the state of Montana. The Lights are coming off a pair of wins over Yellowstone Christian last week. Mascio McCadney leads the Lights at 20 points per game, with David Harris close behind at 19.2. That pair is 1-2 in assists at 3.0 and 2.8, respectively. CJ Nelson leads the team at 5.2 rebounds per game. MSU-N is shooting 42 percent from three-point range and 76.1 percent from the free throw line.

Montana State-Northern and the Eagles have met just once before. The Lights scored a 70-65 win in Great Falls in 2019.

Kalai Akaka all played in the game, with Paulsen scoring nine points.

Providence is 2-0 in the all-time series, including a 112-104 win in 2019 in Great Falls. Paulsen had 20 points, and Davis added 13 in that shootout.

Providence is 2-2 and averaging 95 points per game. Marcus Stephens leads the Argos at 19 points and 2.8 assists per game. Jake Olsen averages 6.5 rebounds. UP opened with wins over Yellowstone Christian at home but lost twice in Lewiston, Idaho, to Lewis-Clark State and Corban. The Argos play Our Lady of the Lake on Friday.
