NU, Kirkland Parks Partner on Summer Camps

KIRKLAND – Northwest University, in partnership with the City of Kirkland's Parks and Community Services Department, is offering youth sports camps on campus for basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball in July and August.

The basketball and soccer camps are for children ages 5-8. Soccer camps run July 19-22 and again July 26-29. Each of the camps costs $120 per camper. Soccer camps run from 9 a.m. to noon. Basketball camps run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Campers may opt to attend both soccer and basketball camps on July 19-22 for a combined $185.
 
Volleyball operates its camps for ages 7-10 on Aug. 10-12 and for ages 11 to 14 on Aug. 16-18. Both camps run from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $100.
 
Softball offers a camp for children ages 6-11 Aug. 16-18 from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $100.
 
There are additional charges for non-residents in all camps. All campers must bring a face covering.
 
Soccer Camps:
 
  • Campers should bring a face covering, t-shirt, shorts, soccer cleats, and a water bottle.
 
  • The camp will focus on shooting, passing, dribbling, relays, and small-sided soccer games/scrimmages.
 
 
Basketball Camps:
 
  • Campers should bring a face covering, a t-shirt, shorts, good basketball shoes, and a water bottle. Non-athletic footwear is not permitted on the floor during sessions.
 
  • The camp features an emphasis on fundamentals, individualized attention, small group play, a camp basketball and t-shirt, and an 8:1 player/coach ratio.
 
 
Volleyball Camps:
 
  • Campers should bring a face covering, volleyball playing gear (T-shirt, shorts, knee pads), a good pair of volleyball shoes and a water bottle. Non-athletic footwear is not permitted on the floor during sessions.
 
  • Volleyball camps feature an emphasis on fundamentals, individualized attention, small group play, gameplay environment, player notebook and task lists, a camp t-shirt, and a player/coach ratio of 8:1.
 
 
Softball Camps:
 
  • Campers should bring a glove, bat, batting helmet, tennis shoes or molded cleats, catcher's gear if applicable, and a water bottle.
 
  • The camp emphasizes having fun and learning fundamentals from college players in the areas of catching, throwing, fielding, and hitting.
