KIRKLAND – Northwest men's basketball signed Luke and Anthony Howard from Vancouver, Canada, for the 2022-23 season.
Luke is a 6-9 transfer from Biola and will be a redshirt sophomore this season. He attended Harding Academy in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was a Tennessee Mr. Basketball finalist and a two-time All-District and All-Region selection. He averaged 24 points, nine rebounds, two blocks, and two steals per game. He also competed on his school's state championship track team, placing seventh in the high jump.
"Luke brings an incredible skill set to our team," said NU Head Coach
Rick Skeen. "He is a tremendous three-point shooter who can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim as well as post up inside. He will be a mismatch nightmare for teams with his diverse skill set."
Anthony is a 6-8 transfer from Trevecca Nazarene, where he was Academic All-Conference and a member of the honor society. He will be a redshirt sophomore. He also played at Harding Academy, where he was selected for an All-Star game and was a track and field state high jump champion. He also was a member of the National Honor Society.
Anthony also played for Hawks Elite and Woodz Elite.
"Anthony is a tremendous defensive player who can guard guys bigger and smaller," said Skeen. "He has a great work ethic and will continue to grow into a bigger role in his time at NU."
Luke and Anthony are the sons of Christine and Austen Howard. They have two sisters, Emily (who plays basketball at Liberty University) and Alicia.
