Mounties Hold Off NU

LA GRANDE, Ore. — Lewis Pope had a strong 19-point outing but Notthwest came up short at Eastern Oregon on Friday, 84-62.

"Really proud of our effort tonight," said NU Head Coach Rick Skeen. "We were right there with five minutes to go. No Djordje, No O'Shae, No Drew, no Luke, no Danny. And we were tied up with five to play. We just ran out of gas and couldn't get a stop down the stretch.  They are a very good team and we played harder on the defensive side tonight."

Pope was 7-12 from the field and connected on five of six three-point attempts. CaCoa Chatman added 11 points and AJ Chappell added 10.

Carson Sparks led the Eagles with seven rebounds while Chappell and Drew Bryson added three steals each.

NU visits College of Idaho at 4 p.m. Pacific time on Saturday.
