Box Score KLAMATH Falls, Ore. – Oregon Tech held off a late surge to edge Northwest University 64-62 in Cascade Conference play tonight on Danny Miles Court. NU cut a ten point OIT lead to one with eight seconds to go, but fell just short.
The first half saw defenses taking charge and limiting the scoring. With the score in its sixth tie at 21-21 and 4:42 to go until halftime,
Tomas Ogbaslassie would hit a big 3-pointer for the Eagles to put them ahead, 24-21. Teammate
Thomas Jordan would hit another trey to give NU a 27-21 lead with 3:12 to go. OIT would close the gap and Tyler Van Kirk's jumper at the 2:19 mark would make it 28-25 with NU holding on to the lead. Lavar Moore would hit one of two free throws with 1:47 to cut the NU lead to two, 28-26 as neither team would score the remainder of the half.
OIT would go cold to start the second half going 0-6 as Northwest U would heat up.
Nemanja Grujicic and
C.J. Carter would both score to increase the NU lead to nine points, 27-28, five and a half minutes into the period. Tech would then catch fire and Lavar Moore's 3-pointer would start an OIT 10-run with Moore's free throw giving the Owls a 38-37 lead with 11:45 to play in the game. After the teams exchanged the lead two times, Josh Johnson and Lavar Moore would hit back-to-back treys as Tech would lead 46-41 with nine minutes left to play. Austin Flint would give OIT their largest lead, 54-44, with 5:12 to play, but Northwest would refuse to go away without a battle.
Jeremy Paull and
Tomas Ogbaslassie would hit two 3-pointers each as the Eagles would cut the OIT lead to 60-57 with 2:01 to go in the game. Lavar Moore would hit a big trey with 59 seconds to go as the Owls would lead 63-57. Ogbaslassie would answer with another 3-pointer making it 63-60 with 34 ticks on the clock and Jordan would drill a jumper to make it 63-62 with just 8 seconds to go. Lavar Moore would hit one of two free throws as the Eagles' final shot would miss the mark at the buzzer.
C.J. Carter Led Northwest U (12-6, 2-4 CCC) with 14 points while
Nemanja Grujicic would contribute 11 points and 6 rebounds.
Tomas Ogbaslassie would come off the bench to score 13 points and hit 4 of 4 from beyond the 3-point line.
Jeremy Paull would also come off the NU bench to score 9 as he would hit 3 of 4 treys. NU shot 43 percent for the game and out rebounded OIT 40-32.
Oregon Tech (11-6, 4-3 CCC) was led by Lavar Moore's 30 points with 21 of them coming in the second half. Austin Flint scored 12 points and Josh Johnson dropped in 8 for the Hustlin' Owls who shot 38 percent for the night.

John Van Dyke. "We competed hard throughout the entire game and I'm looking forward to seeing our resiliency tomorrow night at Southern Oregon. We were just a couple of possessions from pulling out the victory tonight."
NU heads west to Ashland and a match up with Southern Oregon, ranked No. 11 in the recent NAIA Top 25 poll.
