Eagles Come From Behind to Defeat Geoducks

Tomas Ogbaslassie led the Eagles with 20 points tonight.
Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. – Tomas Ogbaslassie hit 11 of his game high 20  points in the second half to help lead a Northwest University comeback to defeat The Evergreen State College, 68-57, tonight in CCC play. NU trailed the Geoducks, 29-25, at the half.
 
Evergreen got off to a fast start in the first half as they would take a 22-9 lead after twelve minutes of play and capped off by a Marquise Doss 3-pointer. Leading 27-14 with 4:46 left in the half, Northwest U would go on an 11-2 run to close out the half and cut the ESC lead to four, 29-25.
 
It would Northwest U with a fast start in the second half as they would outscore the Geoducks 17-3 to take a 42-32 lead after Thomas Jordan's driving lay-up. Back would come Evergreen with their own 11-1 run after a Terry Donald trey and Jordan Dam lay-up to tie the score at 43-43. A 10-2 run by NU would help them regain the lead, 51-45, after Dak Shagren would bury a 3-pointer from the left side with 7 minutes left in the game. 5 for 6 shooting along with a clutch 3-pointer by Tomas Ogbaslassie would seal the win for Northwest U and snap a six game losing streak.
 
Northwest U (13-11, 3-9 CCC) got 20 points from Tomas Ogbaslassie and C.J. Carter scored a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Thomas Jordan added 13 points. NU held a 42-28 rebounding edge.
 
Evergreen (3-16, 0-12 CCC) was led by Jordan Dam and Brock Otis who both scored 13 for the Geoducks. Alix Hernandez added 11 and grabbed 9 rebounds.
 
"It's good to get back on the winning track," said NU head coach, John Van Dyke. "We had balanced scoring tonight and after a slow start in the first half, the guys played together in the second half and came away with a victory. We did a good job in rebounding tonight and 13 offensive rebounds shows the guys were battling inside for those second and third shots."
 
NU will remain home and will host Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon in the NU Pavilion next Friday and Saturday nights.
