First Northwest National Champions

The 1987 team consisted of only six players for the entire season culminating in the first national championship in NCCAA Division II Women's Basketball.
This title came before athletic scholarships and before Northwest had most of the current majors which are offered today.

They played a largely NAIA schedule that in those days consisted of teams from much larger school like SPU, Seattle U, Central Washington, Simon Fraser, Whitworth, PLU, etc. So, the season record was not great (13-17), but the team worked hard and it paid off in a trip to nationals where they had the opportunity to play against other institutions from school similar in size to Northwest College.

The result was a national championship for these courageous, disciplined, and committed young women and for Northwest!
