Aiyanna came to Northwest from Douglas, Wyoming. In addition to playing basketball, she was a starter on the volleyball team during her freshman and sophomore years. Aiyanna gave up many scholarship opportunities choosing to play at Northwest during the non-scholarship era. She graduated in 1991 with a BA in Behavioral Science and began a career in the social service field.  During her time at Northwest, Curtis was a four-time MVP at the NCCAA II National Basketball Tournament in 1988, ’89, ’90, ’91 and helped lead the Northwest team to three National Championships (1988, ‘90, and ‘91) and one 2nd place finish (1989). She earned NCCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors in 1988 and first team NCCAA All-American honors three straight years (1989, ’90, ’91),
Curtis scored 2,037 career points at Northwest (2nd all-time) along with 526 career assists, a 16.8 points per game career average and a 35% career 3 point field goal average. Aiyanna’s jersey #34 was retired by Northwest University.  Â
